This song is a story about one mans struggle with disconnection, loneliness, depression, and drug abuse. He tells us how through these experiences he comes to talk to god and find his faith. As an atheist whose family members have taken a similar journey, I had a personal connection to the material with a third person perspective. I wanted to express the emotions of this story while also relating to it with my own experiences through personal depression and eventual self acceptance.
